Renew car tags online with a more user-friendly
platform
The Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC) recently unveiled a new look
and improved functionality for CARS.ok.gov (Convenient Auto Renewal
System) tag renewal system. The redesign flows better with the rest
of the OTC website and is more adaptable for both mobile and web
platforms.
As individuals renew their car tags over the coming year, they
will have the option through CARS.ok.gov to pay an extra fee and
retain their existing tag number for the newly designed license
plate they will receive in 2017.
“CARS.ok.gov is intended to make renewing car tags a convenient,
simple and easy process for individuals,” said Paula Ross, Oklahoma
Tax Commission spokesperson. “CARS.ok.gov is open around the clock
every day, including weekends, nights and holidays.”
The CARS.ok.gov homepage content was evaluated and redesigned
with user feedback in mind, providing the public with a more
functional and user-friendly experience. The application now has
modified instructions that walk the end user through the
application with ease. It also links to the OTC’s main website for
up-to-date information regarding tag renewals.
The online application functions on multiple mobile and web
platforms using responsive design. When a user accesses the
application from his or her mobile device, media queries hide large
images and stylistic elements so the application can be viewed with
ease on smaller devices.
Oklahomans can renew their car tags online, via CARS.ok.gov, if
they:
- Renew a tag for a noncommercial
(automobiles; noncommercial/non-farm trucks; motorcycles; travel
trailers; motor homes) or commercial (15,000 pounds or less laden
weight) vehicle, that is not more than ten (10) months
delinquent.
- Renew a tag for a farm truck weighing
(truck + load carried or pulled) 55,000 pounds or less, that is not
more than ten (10) months delinquent.
- Have a valid credit/debit card or a
checking account to pay for the renewal.
- Have insurance information ready, or
are declaring a non-use vehicle.
- Have a driver's license number (if
individual) or FEI number (if other than an individual).
- Have a printer connected to a computer
to print the receipt and/or provide a valid email address to have
the receipt sent to that account.
CARS.ok.gov was developed in partnership with the Oklahoma Tax
Commission and Oklahoma Interactive, LLC (OI). OI operates under a self-funded model, in
which no additional tax dollars were used to develop or maintain
this application.
