Business Wire
Dell OEM Solutions today announced SecurePOD, a pre-configured
and validated IP video surveillance system based on Intel® Xeon®
processors and designed for extreme capacity, performance,
scalability and ease-of-use. Many IT departments are being tasked
with taking on management of physical security systems as the
industry moves from analog to digital video surveillance. Dell
collaborated with Intel, Axis Communications, Ingram Micro, and
Milestone Systems to develop SecurePOD for customers in need of a
powerful, but simple way to jumpstart their IP video surveillance
practices.
SecurePOD offers customers the benefit of longer roadmaps,
extended product lifecycles and faster time-to-profit. The
pre-validated, pre-integrated SecurePOD package of hardware,
software and cameras is built on open IT standards and can be
customized for vertical functions and applications. The platform
runs on Dell’s PowerEdge server portfolio customized by Dell OEM
Solutions.
Dell OEM Enables OEMs to Bring Intelligent Systems to Market
Faster
The intelligent systems industry is expected to grow to more
than a $2 trillion market and constitute more than one-third of all
major electronic system units by 2015, according to IDC.(1) To
address this demand, Dell OEM joined the Intel Intelligent Systems
Alliance in 2011 and recently became the first tier one
manufacturer to achieve Premier Member status. As part of its
membership in the alliance, Dell OEM has teamed up with Intel
through executive, architectural, joint marketing, and sales
relationships. In addition, Dell OEM has optimized the entire
development lifecycle of Intel architecture-based products.
The combination of Intel’s intelligent systems processor roadmap
and the programmatic and supply chain capabilities of Dell OEM
Solutions gives customers increased platform stability, visibility
into product roadmap updates and advanced warranty for easier
implementations of solution updates. OEMs can benefit from reduced
risk, improved access to leading-edge solutions, easier
integration, and faster time-to-profit.
As the largest tier one provider of solutions for OEMs
worldwide, Dell OEM Solutions delivers standards-based solutions
built to order and customized for the specific needs of OEMs and
their end users. Through the Dell OEM Solutions Partners Ecosystem,
Dell builds in partners’ technologies from the chip level to the
operating system to enable OEMs to accelerate time-to-market with
intelligent systems and reduce the costs associated with product
development and engineering.
“SecurePOD is the result of the close collaboration between Dell
and Intel on architectures and roadmaps. Dell is very proud to be
the first tier one manufacturer able to bring to our customers this
level of integration with Intel Intelligent Systems,” said Joyce
Mullen, vice president and general manager, Dell OEM Solutions.
“Dell OEM is dedicated to helping customers to reduce costs, speed
time-to-market and free up their product development and
engineering teams to focus on innovation.”
“Based on Intel® Xeon® processors, the open standards SecurePOD
solution is designed to help customers extend product lifecycles
and reduce time-to-market,” said Bob Ferrar, director, Intel
Intelligent Systems Group. “This solution along with collaborations
such as those with Dell OEM will help OEMs around the globe to
bring innovative intelligent systems to market faster.”
