LONDON-- U.K. postal service Royal Mail PLC (RMG.LN) said
Wednesday that it will not be hit by strikes over the Christmas
period after reaching an agreement in principle with the
Communications Workers Union on pay and other matters.
The union still plans to hold a vote on industrial action, but
has confirmed that there will be no industrial action during the
ratification process of the proposed agreement, including the whole
of the Christmas trading period, Royal Mail said.
The proposed agreement, which also covers legal protections and
pensions, will be considered by the union's executive before being
voted on by union members, Royal Mail said.

the company at GBP5.8 billion.
