Americans Challenged To Tell Stories of Sharing To Help Fight
Hunger ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J., June 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --
More than 35 million Americans, many of them children, are living
in food insecure households, according to the USDA(1). Shedd's
Country Crock(R) is asking Americans to log on to
http://www.spreadthesharing.com/ and tell us a story of sharing as
a fun and easy way to help families in need today - June 5th - as
part Hunger Awareness Day. For every story shared online a meal
will be donated to help a family in need through America's Second
Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network(2). The sixth annual
Hunger Awareness Day is sponsored by America's Second Harvest and
serves as a platform for domestic hunger-relief organizations to
raise awareness about hunger in America. The Spread the Sharing
initiative lets Americans turn their everyday acts of sharing into
meals for hungry households. Stories of sharing can be big or
small, from bringing a cake to a new neighbor to helping out at a
local soup kitchen. "Hunger is a real concern in America and our
partnership with Country Crock will help raise awareness of this
pervasive and ongoing issue," said Vicki Escarra, President &
CEO of America's Second Harvest. "Simply by logging on to the
Spread The Sharing web site and sharing a story, anyone can help
feed a hungry family." Shedd's Country Crock made an initial
donation of one million meals through America's Second Harvest at
the campaign's kickoff in April 2007, and is looking to match that
donation through every story shared by Thanksgiving 2007. To date
almost 30,000 stories have been shared triggering a meal donation
for each story. To find out more or to share a story, please visit
