Peru's Cerro Verde Q4 Net $374.9Mln Vs $244.6Mln

Copper mining company Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA
(CVERDEC1.VL) posted fourth-quarter net income of $374.9 million,
compared with $244.6 million in the same quarter a year earlier,
due to rising copper prices and increased sales.
The company said that revenue totaled $783.3 million in the
fourth quarter compared with $559.4 million in the same quarter a
year earlier.
Full-year net income totaled $1.05 billion, compared with 2009
full-year net income of $708.5 million.
Cerro Verde said that in the fourth quarter it produced 171.1
million pounds of copper compared with 164.5 million pounds in the
same quarter of the previous year.
The Cerro Verde mine is located in southern Peru.
The company said that in 2010 it made capital investments worth
$122.3 million.
Cerro Verde is majority controlled by Freeport McMoRan Copper
& Gold. (FCX) Compania de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN) and a
subsidiary of Sumitomo Corp. (8053.TO) also have equity stakes in
the company.
