Medisys PLC announces that it has issued 2,045,799 new ordinary shares at
18.5p per share by way of a placing for total consideration of #368,244 net of
expenses.

The number of new shares which has been placed is equal to the number of
Medisys shares currently held by a Malaysian associated undertaking of
Medisys, NIC Far East.  NIC Far East, which has been dormant for approximately
three years, is in the process of being wound up. Medisys intends that these
shares will be cancelled upon their distribution by the liquidator to Medisys
thereby having a neutral effect on the company's issued ordinary share
capital.

Medisys also announces that it has issued a further 1,149,031 new ordinary
shares arising from conversions of its #15,000,000 Variable Rate Convertible
Bonds due 2002.

Application has been made for these shares to be admitted to trading on AIM
and it is expected that dealings will commence on Thursday, 18th March 1999.
