  FREEPAGES ANNOUNCES DISCUSSIONS ON EXTENSION
            OF CO-OPERATION WITH VNU
                        
London,  18 December 1997 - Freepages  Group  plc
("Freepages") announces that it is in discussions
with VNU B.V. ("VNU"), the parent company of  its
existing   joint   venture   partner    in    The
Netherlands,  about substantially  extending  the
scope of the co-operation arrangement between the
two  companies.  The opportunity for further  co-
operation  arises  from the proposed  conditional
acquisition by VNU of ITT World Directories, Inc.
("World Directories") which was announced today.

World   Directories   is  a   leading   telephone
directory  provider with operations  in  Belgium,
The  Netherlands  and Portugal,  as  well  as  in
Ireland, South Africa and Puerto Rico.  In  1996,
World  Directories  had  consolidated  sales   of
approximately #331 million.

A  further announcement giving full details  will
be  made  when the negotiations between Freepages
and  VNU  have been concluded which is  currently
expected to be in the New Year.
