Persexploitatiemaatschappij N.V. a wholly owned  subsidiary
of   Verenigde  Nederlandse  Uitgeversbedrijven  N.V.   has
acquired  on  23  October  1997 an interest  in  22,000,000
ordinary shares of 2 pence each representing 4.47 per  cent
of the issued Ordinary share capital of the Company.
