Contest Gives Kids a Chance to Put Their Tastes to the Test
WILBRAHAM, Mass., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The search is
on: Friendly Ice Cream Corporation is looking for 50 kids, between
the ages of eight and 12, to serve as members of the 2006
Friendly's Fab 50 panel. Friendly's invites "tweens" in and around
Boston; Springfield, Mass.; Hartford, Conn., Philadelphia and
Albany, N.Y. to log on to http://www.friendlys.com/ and submit a
brief essay on why they think they are cool enough to be a member
of the Friendly's Fab 50, the "Coolest Job in the World."
Friendly's created the Fab 50 program to give kids a chance to
represent the sophisticated tastes, cutting-edge styles and dynamic
personalities of their age group, while gaining first-hand
experience with real life business operations. The program,
entering its third year, allows the tweens to be involved in menu
and new product development, as they sink their teeth into tasty
subjects ranging from ice cream to appetizers. "Tweens have strong
insights about trends and tastes, and they're anxious to share
them," said Pete Bell, vice president of marketing for Friendly's.
"The Fab 50 program provides a forum for kids to voice their
opinions and a unique opportunity for them to impact real-life
business decisions. The kids gain first-hand exposure to the
business world and have a great time interacting with their peers.
We have received terrific response over the last two years and
we're looking forward to selecting another enthusiastic Fab 50
panel," added Bell. Of course, it won't be all work and no play for
this group of young foodies. The Friendly's Fab 50 will kick-off
their term at an event in their area where they'll receive a "fab"
prize package, including a U.S. savings bond, a supply of
Friendly's ice cream, Friendly's Fab 50 gear and a Friendly's gift
card. As the voice of their peers, they'll also be featured on the
Friendly's Web site, and have a personalized trading card printed
with their photo on it. Log On Now to Enter Kids can log on now to
http://www.friendlys.com/fab50 and check out the contest rules and
regulations. For a chance to win a spot on Friendly's Fab 50 panel,
