PR Newswire (US)
FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Urban
Television Network Corporation (OTC:URBT) (BULLETIN BOARD: URBT)
and its UATV broadcast network released comments on the new CW
network formed by the combination of UPN and WB networks. "The
announcement of the new CW network to combine the UPN and WB
programming properties is very significant to the industry," said
Jacob Miles, Chief Executive Officer. "This merger of assets to
create a full-time network versus two part-time networks
demonstrates the validity of broadcast television and our 24/7
broadcast business model as well as the need to have a critical
mass of programming to attract viewers. UATV is looking to expand
its full-power affiliate base and is well positioned as an outlet
for stations' programming, to pick up content and UPN/WB-abandoned
affiliate stations." The UATV network is a cutting-edge broadcast
network that targets the 80 million urban consumers from the
African-American and English-speaking Hispanic markets. The company
recently announced an agreement with Nielsen Media Research to
provide measurement to advertisers for its urban programming. "We
are very excited about the merger between WB and UPN," said C.
Bruno Olivieri, Executive Vice President for UATV. "With our
current expansion strategy in the full power marketplace, this
creates more opportunities for the network and we are looking
forward to negotiating partnerships with those WB and UPN
affiliates that are not included in this merger." About Urban
