                          Launch of Indigo LED lantern

Freeplay Energy plc, the sustainable energy company that captures, stores and
delivers electric power to self-powered devices such as radios, torches and
mobile phone chargers, today launches its new Indigo LED lantern.

The Indigo is the latest addition to Freeplay's extensive range of market
leading devices powered by self sustainable energy and broadens our product
portfolio in portable lighting, an area which is growing significantly. The
lantern, with its two-way and environmentally friendly charging system, power
adapter and human power, incorporates Freeplay's world leading self-power
technology and will be available through all major retailers in the UK from
September 2006.

Rory Stear, Chairman of Freeplay, commented:

"We are extremely pleased to announce the worldwide launch of our new Indigo
Lantern. Following extensive consultation with both consumers and retailers
around the world, we strongly believe that there is a real and identifiable
market for the Indigo and this has been borne out by the excellent customer
feedback we have already received. In the US, Target and REI have begun selling
the product and we have also received interest from other companies in the UK,
Europe and the Far East. We firmly believe that the Indigo lantern is the most
reliable and dependable lantern on the market today and is yet another excellent
example of how we are continuing to expand our existing product range through
innovative and creative product development."

Freeplay Energy plc will be announcing Interim Results for the six months ended
30 June 2006 on Thursday 21 September 2006.

Established in 1994, Freeplay Energy plc is the ONLY Company in the World
dedicated to the harvesting of human energy. Its series of rechargeable, wind-up

phone charger, with over 3.5 million units sold to date.

'FRE' and raised the capital to expand manufacturing capability, launch new
products, retire debt and recruit a dynamic business development team.

Barrett Marketing Company and its wholly owned parts and wholesale distribution
subsidiary, Dixie Sales. The company has also secured a separate agreement to
supply UNICEF with Lifeline radios and provide electoral education in the
Democratic Republic of Congo. 2006 is also the year of the Indigo and Kito - the
company's latest extensions to its flashlight ranges.

Three Freeplay products have been selected for their design excellence and

Why Indigo?

Thousands of guns were exchanged for Freeplay radios as part of ground breaking
initiative in 2002. A partnership between the government of Niger, the United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Freeplay Foundation sponsored a
unique new project to encourage Nigerians to exchange illicit guns for Freeplay
radios in a bid to encourage peace and stability in the country. The Nigerian
Tuareg - often called "The Blue People" owing to the colour of the dye used to
colour their clothes - formed a significant part of this amnesty and this
product was named in recognition of this.

Since the production of Freeplay Energy's first radio product in 1996, over
300,000 Freeplay Energy radios have been brought to communities in at least 40
developing countries. Radios can reach those isolated by conflict and provide
knowledge and practical life skills to build safe and sustainable communities.
This theme is reflected in the naming of Freeplay Energy's products which
highlight the plight of communities in the developing world and link the
beneficiaries of Freeplay Energy technology to other global users. The company's
technology is already benefiting HIV orphans and child-led families in Africa,
through the lifeline radios which are distributed through the work of the
Freeplay Foundation.
