Plus, Most In State Patients will obtain their
329 Medical Cannabis Card electronically
MEDMJ, the Hawaii State Department of
Health Medical Cannabis Registry application, has now been
expanded to include registration of out-of-state patients. In
addition, all out-of-state and most in-state patients can obtain
their 329 Medical Cannabis Card electronically, 24/7.
For new out-of-state patients, registration is completed in 4
easy steps: 1) verify that you have both a valid Medical Cannabis
card from another U.S. state or territory, and either a valid
driver’s license or state ID from the same state, 2) create an
eHawaii.gov account, and 3) complete the application up to 60 days
prior to the planned Hawaii visit. Once approved by the Hawaii
State Department of Health, 4) return to the site to view and
download your Medical Cannabis card for Hawaii. The Hawaii card is
good for up to 60 days and out-of-state patients may apply for 2
cards per calendar year.
All out-of-state patients, and all in-state patients who create
their applications online, can obtain their 329 cards by logging
into their account and downloading a copy, once approved by the
Hawaii State Department of Health. This will expedite delivery of
registration cards to patients – no need to wait until cards are
printed and mailed.
“The electronic registration cards contain the same verifiable
information as the hard copy cards that we have issued since 2015,
but we’ve taken a major step forward to modernize the process and
improve the patient experience,” said Peter Whiticar, chief of the
Harm Reduction Services Branch of the Department of Health. “We can
now, for the first time, invite qualified out-of-state patients to
apply up to 60 days prior to their visit to Hawai‘i and get their
cards online prior to arrival.”
The Department of Health Medical Cannabis Registry service was
created in partnership with Hawaii Information Consortium, LLC, the
official Internet portal manager of eHawaii.gov.
