Official Alabama website receives WebAward for outstanding government web design

The state of Alabama received international recognition for its website, Alabama.gov. The website received a 2016 Government Standard of Excellence Award from the Web Marketing Association’s WebAward program. The WebAward program is the longest running annual website award competition dedicated to honoring the best websites in 96 industries while setting a high standard for all website development and marketing.

Alabama.gov is the official government Web portal for the state of Alabama. Some of the newer enhancements to its design include:

  • Re-organized content grouping
  • Sleek and navigable design
  • Enhanced menu options
  • Updated social media portal

The awards are selected by an international panel of industry professionals who evaluate categories ranging from online advertising to mobile applications. The 2016 winning entries showcase the industry’s best interactive media solutions including websites, mobile apps, print media, interactive displays, public exhibits, online advertising, video, email, and more.

The Alabama.gov website was redesigned at no cost to taxpayers through Alabama Interactive’s partnership with the state. The partnership allows the company to provide digital government applications and services to state agencies, boards, commissions, political subdivisions, local government agencies, and quasi-government agencies within the state of Alabama. Alabama Interactive works with more than 60 state agencies, and manages more than 250 online applications through a self-funded model.
