2004 Concours d'Elegance at Cranbrook Partners with General Motors

/PRNewswire/ -- The Concours d'Elegance at Cranbrook committee is
pleased to make the following announcements: General Motors Corp.
will be the presenting sponsor for the 2004 Concours d'Elegance at
Cranbrook. John F. Smith, GM group vice president of North America
Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing, will serve as the honorary
chairman for the 2004 event. Smith had been general manager of
Field Sales, Service and Parts since January 2002. Prior to that,
he was general manager of Service Parts Operations since February
2000, general manager of Cadillac Division since February 1997,
president of Allison Transmissionsince January 1994, and GM Europe
vice president of planning since August 1989. Robert A. (Bob) Lutz,
GM vice chairman, Product Development and chairman, GM North
America, will serve as chief judge for the event. Lutz also is a
member of the Concoursd'Elegance at Cranbrook advisory board. "The
2004 Concours d'Elegance at Cranbrook theme of classic European and
American-influenced automobiles is a great place to showcase
General Motors ownership of historic European nameplates such as
Vauxhall andOpel," said Marvin Towns Jr., co-founder and executive
director of the Concours d'Elegance at Cranbrook. In addition, the
show will highlight partnerships that date back to joint ventures
with European manufacturers and designers such as Pininfarina,
Bertone and Bizzarini. The Concours d'Elegance at Cranbrook is 10
a.m. to 5 p.m. July 25, and the "Cars Under the Stars" gala and
auction is 7 p.m. to midnight July 24. Proceeds from the events
benefit the Cranbrook Educational Community and also the Bloomfield
Hills-based, Women's Committee for Hospice Care non-profit
organization. Cranbrook is an internationally renowned educational
community celebrating 100 years of excellence in education, science
