Unilever (NYSE: UL, UN), one of the worlds largest consumer
products companies, announced today that on February 6th, during
its Annual 2008 Customer Development Meeting, company executives
will participate in a variety of community service projects to
enhance the health and well-being of the greater Las Vegas area. As
part of Unilevers commitment to corporate responsibility and
mission to add vitality to life, it seeks to engage the talents and
resources of employees to make positive contributions to the
community. Unilever is excited to be back in Las Vegas working
with community partners that help make a difference in the lives of
so many, said Art Drogue, senior vice president, Customer
Development, Unilever, U.S. Each year were here, our employees
continue to make a measurable difference in the community by
supporting local organizations in need. Under Drogues direction
and leadership, several community partners will benefit from
Unilevers efforts, which are focused on sustainable development,
adding vitality to life, nutrition enhancement, and hygiene for
health. Notably, Unilever employees will participate in two
separate KaBOOM! playground installations at The Innovations
International Charter School and The Nevada Childrens Center with
approximately 250 Unilever staff seeing both projects through to
their completion. Habitat for Humanity Las Vegas will also benefit
from the volunteers efforts, hosting approximately 100 Unilever
employees who will landscape and paint fences at two adjacent homes
while the future homeowners watch their dream come to life.
Unilever employees will also donate and install computers at four
Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the Las Vegas area, which will
help the Clubs continue to deliver quality programs for their
youth. Outside of Las Vegas proper, approximately 50 Unilever
volunteers will construct benches made out of recycled plastic
lumber so that observers and program participants may enjoy the
lakes beauty. It is estimated that the Center receives more than
1.1 million visitors annually. By helping to build lasting
infrastructure in the Las Vegas community, we believe that our
contribution will leave Las Vegas a bit better than before our
arrival, concluded Drogue. Editors Note: For more information
