Checking game has never been easier thanks to
electronic options
Since its inception, The Indiana Department of Natural Resources
(DNR) online CheckIN system has checked over 105,000 harvested
game. Hunters who are without an internet connection can use the
CheckIN Game phone service.
"The phone-in option allows hunters that do not have internet
access the ability to check in their harvest from home or in the
field with a mobile phone,” said Mark Reiter, DNR Division of Fish
& Wildlife director. “This makes checking in easy and
convenient for all hunters.”
Indiana hunters have the ability to report their deer and fall
turkey harvest by calling in game using their phones without having
to take the deer or turkey to a check station for physical
inspection. The CheckIN Game phone service number is 800-419-1326
and will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout
deer season. The cost of service is $3 per check. In order to use
the CheckIN Game phone service, hunters will need:
1. Pen and paper to write the confirmation number
2. CID or Lifetime license number, found on your hunting
license
3. Visa or MasterCard to pay for the service
Hunters registering their deer or turkey using the CheckIN Game
phone option need to write the CheckIN Game confirmation number on
the temporary transportation tag. Law enforcement will utilize this
confirmation number to check the validity of the game.
In addition to using the CheckIN Game phone option, hunters are
also able to register online. The CheckIN Game online option is
free to hunters and has been updated for the 2013-2014 hunting
season with a few enhancements such as the ability to view
previously checked game. Due to the overwhelming smartphone
traffic, over 50 percent of website visits, the online interface
has been optimized for mobile devices as well. Go to
