The new website helps citizens stay informed
and find transit systems in their county
The Governor’s Oklahoma United We Ride Council recently launched
a new public transit information website at
http://www.unitedweride.ok.gov. The site allows citizens to search
for public transit systems by county, and serves as a useful
resource for Oklahomans.
“For some, lack of reliable transportation is a major barrier to
finding and keeping work, getting to medical appointments, applying
for and receiving social services, getting to school, and
participating in their communities,” said United We Ride Chair,
Charla Sloan. “We hope this website will get the right information
to the right people and provide those individuals with an
opportunity to stay involved and contribute to their
communities.”
The new website offers Oklahomans, particularly those who are
transportation disadvantaged – individuals who, for any number of
reasons, do not drive and must rely on friends, family, or other
transportation modes to get them from place to place – an online
portal with links that redirect users to transit system information
and resources about public transportation services in a specific
Oklahoma county.
The new website was built using OK.gov’s GoGov! Web Management
Suite, allowing for easy and quick web development and maintenance,
while utilizing a standard state agency web template. The
Governor’s Oklahoma United We Ride Council website results from a
partnership between the Office of Management and Enterprise
Services and OK.gov. More information about the new site can be
found at http://www.myride.ok.gov.
