On the verge of a proposed leveraged buyout ('LBO'), Dell Inc. (DELL) created a ripple in the market with its two new offerings. Dell launched Enterprise Mobility Application solutions and Boomi Master Data Management ('MDM') solutions.

Enterprise Mobility Application solutions, which will be offered under Dell Services unit, will aid organizations in planning a business strategy through tailored applications in order to boost productivity of the mobile workforce and enhance customer satisfaction.

The product suite includes functions such as Mobility Strategy Consulting, Multi-Platform Application development (for Apple Inc.’s (AAPL) iOS, Google Inc.’s (GOOG) Android, Research In Motion’s (BBRY) BlackBerry and Microsoft Corp.’s (MSFT) Windows 8), User Experience, Mobile Business Intelligence and Mobile Testing.

With the Enterprise Mobility Application suite, organizations can access real-time data, respond to customer needs and serve them better to get an edge over competitors.

Dell also announced the launch of Boomi Master Data Management (MDM) software, which will be a part of Dell Software unit. Dell took over Software-as-a-Service integration technology provider, Boomi in Nov 2010. The reason behind acquiring Boomi was to get hold of its “AtomSphere” technology, which helps users to integrate and transfer data between and among cloud-based and on-premise applications and also reduces cloud integration costs by 95%.

Generally, Master Data Management (MDM) comprises a set of processes, governance, policies, standards and tools that consistently defines and manages the master data (i.e. non-transactional data entities) of an organization (which may also include reference data).

Dell’s cloud-based MDM tool can help organizations to support Master Data Management by removing duplicates, standardizing data, incorporating rules to eliminate incorrect data from entering the system in order to create an authoritative source of master data.

With these two offerings, Dell will be fairly positioned to compete with key players such as IBM Corp. (IBM), AT&T Inc. (T) and Oracle Corp. (ORCL).

Also, the adoption of these products can help Dell to diversify its business for achieving better growth prospects ahead.

Currently, Dell has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), reflecting the ongoing LBO proceedings.
