Ariba, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARBA), the leading spend management
solutions provider, today announced that it has been selected by
Siemens Enterprise Communications, the world's leading provider of
open communications, as the platform for its strategic spend
management program. In an effort to create a standardized and
efficient process for managing its spend from end-to-end, Siemens
Enterprise Communications will leverage a suite of Aribas
on-demand spend management solutions, including: Ariba Spend
Visibility, Ariba Sourcing, Ariba Contract Management and Ariba
Supplier Performance Management.
There are many parts to the spend lifecycle and each must be
carefully managed in a coordinated way in order for savings and
efficiencies that can positively impact our operations to be
identified and realized, said Dirk Fuchs, Controller at Siemens
Enterprise Communications Ariba provides us with innovative and
proven solutions that we can leverage across our spend to create
standard, best practice processes for sourcing and procurement that
will allow us to deliver results.
In evaluating solutions and tools to drive its spend management
program, Siemens Enterprise Communications had a clear set of
requirements. The company wanted industry-leading technology that
could be used to manage the complete spend lifecycle - from
analyzing and sourcing spend to negotiating and managing contracts
and supplier performance. Siemens Enterprise Communications also
expected the solution to provide in-depth Contract Management
capabilities, that could facilitate more efficient authoring,
streamline and integrate approval processes and drive compliance
with various regulations.
With the aggressive goals we have set, we needed a solution
that could be quickly implemented, Fuchs continued. We also
sought something that could meet our complex
functionality-requirements without the burden, or risk of
implementing expensive software or hardware.

services delivered in a single, integrated platform, Aribas
on-demand spend management solutions require no investment in
hardware or lengthy implementations. With Ariba, companies can be
up and running along the path to spend management excellence in
weeks, not months or years.
Under the terms of its agreement with Ariba, Siemens Enterprise
Communications will leverage Ariba Spend Visibility to achieve a
360-degree view into spend across categories, divisions and
geographies, identify opportunities for savings and optimize
information on existing and new suppliers; Ariba Sourcing to
