                             Litigation Settlement

Benfield, the world's leading independent reinsurance and risk intermediary,
today announced that it has reached a settlement with Aon Corp and certain
former members of its Facultative Solutions team in relation to the legal
process referred to in its trading update issued to the London Stock Exchange on
16 October 2006.

The full and final settlement, including costs, will result in Benfield
receiving a payment of #9,525,000 which will be accounted for as an exceptional
item.

The parties to the settlement have agreed to make no further comment in relation
to the matter.
