Hewlett-Packard Co. Chief Executive Meg Whitman has joined the
board of SurveyMonkey Inc., a maker of online survey tools.
The board appointment is a reunion of sorts between Ms. Whitman
and SurveyMonkey CEO Bill Veghte, who was, until July, head of
Hewlett-Packard's enterprise business group and one of the top
strategists behind H-P's break up.
Founded in 1999, SurveyMonkey had been run by David Goldberg, a
beloved Silicon Valley personality, who died in May.
Since then, the company has taken steps to strengthen its
leadership. Mr. Veghte started as CEO in early August. Recent board
appointments include Facebook Inc.'s operating chief Sheryl
Sandberg, who is Mr. Goldberg's widow, and David Ebersman, formerly
Facebook's Chief Financial Officer.
In addition to its free online survey service, Survey Monkey
sells a variety of customizable survey services priced between $19
and $65 a month.
