SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Cisco Systems and
Facebook Inc. rallied Wednesday, but the tech sector was weighed
down by slumping shares of Micron Technology.
Cisco (CSCO) rose 1% to $25.31, one of the best performers on
the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI), which was up 17 points.
Facebook (FB) was up 1% at $63.35. The tech sector also got a
boost from shares of Groupon Inc.(GRPN), which was ahead 1.7% and
Hewlett-Packard(HPQ), which added nearly 1%.
On the downside, shares of Micron Technology (MU) fell 3%, while
Yelp Inc. (YELP) gave up 2%.
The Nasdaq Composite Index (RIXF) was mostly flat, last down a
point at 4,390. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) was down
0.4%, while the Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index (MSH) was up
0.2%.
