SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Technology stocks were mostly
higher Friday, aided by gains in shares of Microsoft Corp.,
Facebook Inc. and Apple Inc.
Microsoft (MSFT) rallied 1.4% to close at $38.13, the best
performer on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI), which was down
a fraction.
Facebook(FB) climbed 1% to close at $47.01, while Apple (AAPL)
added 2% to close at $556.07, as the Nasdaq Composite Index (RIXF)
edged higher by 0.4% to close at 4,060.
The Morgan Stanley High Tech 35 Index (MSH) and the Philadelphia
Semiconductor Index (SOX) were each up a fraction.
On the downside, shares of Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) were off a
fraction, closing at $27.35, while Yelp Inc.(YELP) fell 1.4% to
close at $60.69 and Salesforce.com (CRM) was down 1.2% to close at
$52.09.
Also in the red were shares of Google Inc.(GOOG), Groupon
Inc.(GRPN) and Zynga Inc. (ZNGA).
