Chemours Shares Fall After Reports of Jury Ruling Against DuPont -- Update
06 Juli 2016 - 10:27PM
Dow Jones News
An Ohio jury ruled against DuPont Co. (DD) in a case over C-8, a
chemical used to make Teflon, according to reports from the
Columbus Dispatch and Bloomberg News.
In a "bellwether" case, the jury found that the chemical caused
an Ohio man's testicular cancer, and awarded him $5.1 million in
actual damages, the reports said.
DuPont spinoff Chemours Co. (CC) has agreed to cover damages in
DuPont's C-8 cases, Bloomberg reported.
Chemours shares recently traded down 20% to $6.11.
DuPont previously agreed to phase out C-8. Chemours has said
that DuPont "acted reasonably and responsibly" and said Chemours
would "vigorously defend against" C-8 lawsuits.
