American Vanguard Corp. (AVD) has bought DuPont Co.'s (DD)
Bromacil herbicide business assets as part of American Vanguard's
international expansion.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Bromacil is used on crops such as pineapples, citrus, agave and
asparagus, and is marketed globally under the Hyvar and Krovar
brands, the companies said.
American Vanguard, an agricultural products company based in
Newport Beach, Calif., reported sales of $298.6 million in 2014,
down nearly 22% from the year earlier. Herbicides, soil fumigants
and fungicides accounted for $101.8 million in sales.
The assets will be held by its Netherlands-based subsidiary
Amvac C.V., formed in 2012 to manage the company's foreign
sales.
