ELKIN, N.C., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Yadkin Valley Bank and Trust Company (NASDAQ:YAVY) plans to open a new branch in Statesville, North Carolina at the corner of East Broad Street Extension and US Highway 64 in early 2006. This branch will open under the name of Piedmont Bank, a Division of Yadkin Valley Bank and Trust Company, and will be Piedmont's third location in Statesville. The Bank plans to grow its market share in the eastern part of both Statesville and Iredell County with this new branch. According to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Iredell County's population in July, 2005 was 139,135, a 13.4% increase since the 2000 census. The county's median household income from the 2000 census was $41,920, which ranked 11th out of North Carolina's 100 counties. Stephen S. Robinson, Regional President, commented on recent developments in the Piedmont Bank Division. "The new Medical Park Road office is off to a very good start! Gerald Huffman and his staff will do a wonderful job of serving the public and growing our business in this impressive facility. With the large Lake Norman Regional Medical complex and Lowe's Headquarters nearby, the future at this location looks very bright! We also cannot wait to get our new Highway 64 office open in Statesville by the first of the year. This location will be very successful also, as it serves an untapped area of East Statesville with the only banking service in that area. Our coming out of town to serve these citizens has already generated tremendous excitement among many of our customers and friends."
