On Wednesday, 22 January, the two millionth EP petrol engine rolled off the production line at PSA Peugeot Citroën (Paris:UG) subsidiary Française de Mécanique.

The engine, stamped no. 2,000,000, will be shipped to the Sochaux plant for assembly on a Peugeot 308.

The EP petrol engine family equips a large number of Peugeot and Citroën vehicles in 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre versions, with a top power rating of 200 hp.

Production of the EP petrol engine, developed jointly by PSA Peugeot Citroën and BMW, began in 2006.

The 1.6-litre version has won the International Engine of the Year Award for seven years in a row.

In all, 1,280 fully assembled EP engines are produced each day.

Française de Mécanique has close to 3,050 employees, of whom some 800 are involved in the production of the EP engine. Alongside Trémery, it is one of the two engine production plants in PSA Peugeot Citroën’s European manufacturing base.
