Two Million EP Petrol Engines Produced by PSA Peugeot Citroën

On Wednesday, 22 January, the two millionth EP petrol engine
rolled off the production line at PSA Peugeot Citroën (Paris:UG)
subsidiary Française de Mécanique.
The engine, stamped no. 2,000,000, will be shipped to the
Sochaux plant for assembly on a Peugeot 308.
The EP petrol engine family equips a large number of Peugeot and
Citroën vehicles in 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre versions, with a top
power rating of 200 hp.
Production of the EP petrol engine, developed jointly by PSA
Peugeot Citroën and BMW, began in 2006.
The 1.6-litre version has won the International Engine of the
Year Award for seven years in a row.
In all, 1,280 fully assembled EP engines are produced each
day.
Française de Mécanique has close to 3,050 employees, of whom
some 800 are involved in the production of the EP engine. Alongside
Trémery, it is one of the two engine production plants in PSA
Peugeot Citroën’s European manufacturing base.
