French carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen SA (UG.FR) expects to sell around 100,000 new cars in China this year and aims to ramp up sales to around 400,000 a year going forward, a senior company executive said Thursday.

Vincent Rambaud, chief executive in charge of the Peugeot brand said the company already has 40,000 orders for its cars in China so far this year.

Rambaud was speaking during a telephone press conference ahead of the Beijing Auto Show. PSA makes the Peugeot and Citroen brands of cars and commercial vehicles.

Ramboud noted the company plans to launch 14 new models worldwide in 2010-2012.
