First ETF to Track International Fixed-Income Sector NEW YORK, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange(R) (Amex(R)) today announced that it has launched trading in the SPDR Lehman International Treasury Bond exchange traded fund (AMEX:BWX) by State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management arm of State Street Corporation. This is the first ETF to track the international fixed-income sector and it brings the total number of ETF listings on the Amex to 345. "The Amex and State Street Global Advisors have enjoyed a longstanding partnership, and the launch of the SPDR Lehman International Treasury Bond ETF is another proud accomplishment for both our organizations," said Scott Ebner, Senior Vice President of the Amex ETF Marketplace. "We are pleased to be supporting SSgA as they continue to expand their family of fixed-income ETFs and provide investors with new opportunities to diversify their investment portfolios." BWX seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of its benchmark index, the Lehman Brothers Global Treasury Ex-U.S. Capped Index. The Index tracks fixed-rate local currency sovereign debt of investment-grade countries outside the U.S. As of August 31, 2007, there were 674 issues from 18 countries denominated in 11 currencies included in the Index. The Fund will normally invest at least 80% of its total assets in fixed-income securities that comprise its benchmark Index. The specialist for BWX is Susquehanna Investment Group.
