NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTEREST IN SHARES

29 January 1999 that they sold 500,000 shares on the 28 January 1999 on behalf
of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC.  Their aggregate holding now amounts to
2,600,000 shares allocated as follows:-

Aberdeen High Income Trust PLC                    750,000
Danae Investment Trust PLC                        250,000
Jove Investment Trust PLC                         400,000
Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC               950,000
Aberdeen Fund of Investment Trust (Unit Trust)    250,000

                                       Total    2,600,000

The aggregate holding of ordinary shares of this company under the management of
Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited represent 8.82% of the issued share capital
(previously 10.52%).
