The Company has been informed that, following the disposal of 2,220,000
ordinary 10p shares (representing 3.57% of the issued class of capital) on 5
January 1999, Aberdeen Preferred Income Investment Trust plc now has an
interest in 5,600,000 ordinary 10p shares of the Company (representing 9.09%
of the issued class of capital).

As a result, the total number of shares managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers
Limited and its associated companies is now 10,169,246 ordinary 10p shares of
the Company, representing 16.50% of issued class of capital.
