KVUE-TV's Patti Smith Named 'Broadcaster of the Year' By Texas Association of Broadcasters AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Patti Smith, vice president and general manager of Austin's KVUE-TV, has been named the 2004 "Broadcaster of the Year" by the Texas Association of Broadcasters. Smith received the honor on Thursday night at the TAB's annual awards gala at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Austin. The gala was part of TAB's 51st Annual Convention and Trade Show. The "Broadcaster of the Year" award is presented to an owner or full-time employee of a TAB member television or radio station. The award honors an individual who has made a commitment to excellence over the past year and is an example to others in broadcasting. Smith, a Belo executive since 1999, is currently TAB vice president. Smith Career Highlights * Smith has been a Texas broadcaster for nearly 30 years. Prior station affiliations include KTBC-TV Austin, KGBT-TV Harlingen and KVEO-TV Rio Grande Valley.
