U.S. personal computer maker Dell Inc. (DELL) said Monday it is cooperating with China Mobile Ltd. (0941.HK) on the development of mobile devices.

The comments came as China Mobile on Monday launched an online platform offering music, games, videos and other entertainment applications for download to mobile phones.

China Mobile spokeswoman Rainie Lei said Dell's handset model - mini3i - supports the company's new online platform.

People familiar with the situation have said Dell has been looking to enter the smartphone segment. The company hasn't publicly said when or how it will do so.

Dell China spokeswoman Teresa Shen declined to elaborate on the company's handset or provide other details.
