SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Syscan Imaging Inc., the world leader in USB powered portable image scanners announces the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Nanodisplay, Inc., expanding its HDTV (High Definition TV) display technology group SysView Technology. In addition to the HDTV technologies already in development at SysView, Nanodisplay is expected to add yet another viable technology solution for the rapidly expanding HDTV market. Nanodisplay has four patents pending surrounding its proprietary methods and technologies that utilize CNT (Carbon Nano Tube) technology and an advanced assemblage and integration process. Nanodisplay is in the process of producing an advanced high yield LCoS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) chip with true 1080P resolution. It is also expected that with this new process technology, upgrades to 3, 4, and 7M pixels are likely at an accelerated pace. The end result for the consumer would be significant cost reduction and increased visual performance and resolution all in a large screen format. Nanodisplay co-founder Dr. Gihong Kim brings a tremendous amount of experience with him. Dr. Kim has been a research and development engineer in the field of semiconductor materials, process integration and devices for the majority of his 24 year career. He attributes the genesis of his solution to resolving key LCoS limitations to his involvement with LCoS since the technologies initial R&D stages. To his credit Dr. Kim has 20 patents issued and has had 13 papers published in the field of semiconductor technology. Dr. Kim said, "We have been diligently working on the LCoS solution while making it scaleable for the future at Nanodisplay, we believe that now is the right time and Syscan Imaging is the right partner." Darwin Hu, the Chairman and CEO of Syscan Imaging said, "We are very excited with the addition of Nanodisplay which puts us directly in the burgeoning LCoS arena with the likes of Spatialight, Brillian, eLCoS and others." David P. Clark, President of SysView Technology added, "We believe that as more LCoS units become available LCoS will prove to be a superior platform to DLP, we also believe that Nanodisplay has the technology solution that will take the LCoS platform to a higher level."
