“We are delighted to support the Chattahoochee Nature Center to
reach it goals to strengthen the environmental stewardship within
the community,” said Thomas Orberger, Siemens business manager for
hybrid drives in North America. “Siemens Hybrid Drives solutions
for trucks and busses are an integral part to provide sustainable
and environmentally responsible transportation solution for today’s
customers. When the opportunity came up to support the
Chattahoochee center we did not hesitate to assist.”
The Azure Dynamics Gasoline hybrid -electric bus features
Siemens ELFA technology, which drives the vehicle and transfers the
vehicle’s braking energy back into the battery through the hybrid
electric power train, reducing emissions, fuel costs and
maintenance costs. This powertrain technology will help the nature
center reduce its carbon emission footprint , noise pollution and
fuel costs.
“We are grateful to Siemens for their generosity and
partnership,” said Chris Nelson, executive director of
Chattahoochee Nature Center.
These benefits are increasingly important as global and local
demands are made on corporations, organizations and governments to
implement emission initiatives and comply with noise reduction
ordinances — while operating more profitably.
In October 2014, Siemens donated an all-electric van to Lambert
High School in Forsyth County.
The Chattahoochee Nature Center is a private non-profit
127-acre; award-winning interpretive center serving Metro Atlanta,
located on the Chattahoochee River in Roswell that is dedicated to
environmental education. Visitors particularly enjoy the Gold level
LEED certified Discovery Center Museum and Nature Exchange with
hands on exhibits that tell the river’s story. Visitors are invited
to hike the woodland trails, meander through beautiful butterfly
and native plant gardens or explore the river boardwalk, while
viewing rehabilitated native animals. A documentary film
‘Re-Imagine the Chattahoochee’, shown daily in the theater, orients
visitors.
