PURCHASE BY BAE SYSTEMS OF GKN'S 28.95% STAKE IN ALVIS

Alvis plc notes the announcement by BAE Systems plc of its agreement with GKN
plc to purchase a 28.95% stake in Alvis.

Nick Prest, Chairman and Chief Executive of Alvis plc commented:
