WICHITA, Kan., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. (NYSE:SPR) today announced that, effective immediately, it will commence direct international parts sales and distribution. In making this announcement, Spirit is responding to customers' expressed desire to deal directly with Spirit and not through an intermediary. Spirit's sales and distribution network has developed and matured since its separation from Boeing in 2005 and the company is now fully capable of engaging directly with international customers. "We believe it is the right time to strengthen relationships with our international customers by responding directly to their spare parts requirements. We look forward to offering our international customers the same long term services, low cost parts, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), and product support solutions that we currently offer to our domestic customers," said Carolyn Harms, Spirit AeroSystems VP/GM of Aftermarket Customer Support. Spirit AeroSystems has a comprehensive plan for customer engagement and intends to establish regional centers around the world to be closer to their markets. This network, together with Spirit's MRO locations in Wichita, Kan., Prestwick, Scotland, and the recently opened Taikoo Spirit joint venture in Jinjiang, China, positions Spirit in close proximity to its worldwide customer base, allowing Spirit to respond quickly and effectively to emerging customer needs. The transition from Spirit's current international distributor begins immediately and is projected to be complete by June 30, 2010. No service interruption is expected. Spirit is working to make the transition seamless and transparent to its customers. On the web: http://www.spiritaero.com/ About Spirit AeroSystems, Inc.
