Emerson Electric Co. is nearing a deal to sell its power
transmission solutions business to Regal Beloit Corp., according to
people familiar with the matter. A deal would value the business at
more than $1.2 billion, one of the people said.
Emerson Electric began considering strategic alternatives for
the unit, which is based in Florence, Ky., earlier this year. The
unit designs and produces couplings, bearings, gearing and drive
components, among other items, for automotive, aeronautic and
industrial use. Its brands include Browning, Jaure and McGill.
