Vodavi Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: VTEK), a provider of traditional
and next-generation business telecommunications solutions, today
extended the benefits of mobile IP communications with the
introduction of NomadIP. The wireless IP handset gives business
users of Vodavi's TeleniumIP and XTS-IP communication systems the
ability to send and receive calls through their phone extensions
while roaming the campus or at Wi-Fi(R) enabled hotspots located
worldwide(a). NomadIP benefits include convenient wireless
technology for people on the go, reduced dependence on, and costs
associated with, traditional cell phone service, mobile high-speed
access to the Internet and reduced number of missed calls resulting
in improved customer service. "The ability to adopt those IP
products that will provide a business the biggest return in terms
of cost savings and mobility for its employees is a significant
reason why businesses are taking the leap and upgrading their
telecommunication systems to IP technology," said Jack Roffler,
vice president of Olympic Telephone. "Vodavi's IP solutions are
comprehensive, easy to install and in situations where a mobile IP
phone is required, the NomadIP will be a deal saver." Convenient
Wireless Technology The introduction of wireless technology has
brought to the forefront the ability to extend communication beyond
the desktop telephone. Vodavi's wireless IP handset, the NomadIP,
allows workers within a campus environment or retail location
covering a large area to remain accessible and connected to their
phone extensions while roaming around the building. NomadIP
operates on the corporate IP network via wireless access points
placed throughout the site. Warehouses, car dealerships,
restaurants, schools and retail are examples of businesses well
suited for wireless mobile IP applications. The NomadIP handset is
also usable from any 802.11b or 802.11g(b) wireless hotspot. Using
the NomadIP at these Wi-Fi(R) enabled hotspots located in public
places such as coffee shops, airports, hotels, etc. gives users
access to all the features of their business telephone without
being at the office. As calls are processed through the company's
telephone network and not through a cellular service provider,
additional costs savings are achieved. Both the Vodavi XTS-IP and
the TeleniumIP communications systems support NomadIP's features
and functions. Popular features include message wait lamp,
navigation pad, selectable ring tones, phone book, call history
log, schedule with alarms, one-button manner mode activation and
more. Users connected to the TeleniumIP can enjoy an extended set
of convenience features including system text messaging and
Push-to-Talk, a feature that lets a NomadIP user communicate with
another NomadIP user without dialing. The introduction of NomadIP
joins other robust mobile IP endpoints introduced earlier this year
including: -- Nomad SP - a remote extension of the telephone system
that resides on a desktop or laptop PC. A USB headset and broadband
connection is all that is required. Nomad SP also integrates with
popular contact management systems for enhanced productivity. --
Nomad PDA - links a Windows(R)-based PDA to the host telephone
system extension and provides mobility convenience. -- Nomad VP -
allow users to videoconference and share PC applications
simultaneously. Enables distant associates to collaborate on
projects and eliminate travel expenses. "Businesses often find
themselves in a constant race with competitors to offer better
products and services and provide superior customer service,"
stated Greg Roeper, Vodavi president and CEO. "Mobile accessibility
via the NomadIP is essential for employees who need to remain
accessible to external and internal customers no matter where they
are within a facility. Adding mobile solutions to a company's
strategic communications plan is not a matter of if mobility should
be added, but a matter of how fast it should be made available to
employees." About Vodavi Vodavi Technology Inc. is an advanced
