HYDER CONSULTING PLC ("Hyder Consulting" or the "Company")

Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Hyder Consulting, the international engineering design, advisory and specialist
management consultancy, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Paul
Withers as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 27 September
2006. On joining the Board, Mr Withers will become a member of the Audit,
Nomination and Remuneration Committees.

Mr Withers (50) was a main board director of BPB plc ("BPB") for six years prior
to its acquisition by Saint-Gobain, leaving the board on 31 January 2006. He
spent his early career at John Brown Engineers, joining BPB in 1985 where his
two latest appointments were Group Business Development and Marketing Director
and Group Managing Director, Emerging Markets. He is a Chartered Engineer and
holds a first class honours degree in mathematics from Trinity College,
Cambridge and a Sloan Fellowship from the London Business School. During the
previous five years he has been a director of a number of BPB's subsidiaries and
associates, three being publicly quoted companies, namely: Compania Industrial
El Volcan SA, Thai Gypsum Products pcl and India Gypsum Ltd. Mr Withers also
left the boards of these companies on 31 January 2006.

No other information is required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph 9.6.13 R
of the Listing Rules of the Financial Services Authority in relation to Mr
Withers's appointment to the Board of the Company.
