GYRUS CONFIRMS PLANS FOR THE RE-INTRODUCTION OF VERSAPOINT


Gyrus today confirms plans to re-introduce the VersaPoint Hysteroscopic System
through their marketing partner Gynecare, a division of Ethicon Inc a Johnson
& Johnson company.

In September 2000, Gynecare voluntarily withdrew the VersaPoint System
(excluding the generators) from the market following a small number of
suspected cases of air or gas embolism which were reported to have occurred
during hysteroscopic myomectomy.

Following withdrawal of the product an in-depth review of the circumstances
associated with these reported events has been conducted in conjunction with
an international panel of experts.

As a result of this review, some additional recommendations relating
specifically to the techniques employed during hysteroscopic surgery per se
will be included in the product labelling.

These recommendations will be submitted for regulatory review during November
and subject to this review Gyrus anticipates that re-introduction will occur
early in the New Year.

Throughout this period Gynecare has maintained confidence in the VersaPoint
product line with the stated intention to re-introduce the product to the
market

Commenting on this announcement Dr Mark Goble, Gyrus Group CEO, said:  "Our
