The Human Rights Campaign awarded AXA a perfect score on its 2018 Corporate Equality Index for the Fifth Year in a Row

AXA, a leading financial protection company, has achieved a perfect score of 100 for the fifth consecutive year and has been deemed one of the Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

The HRC’s Corporate Equality Index is the national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer employees.

“We encourage people to be themselves and express their truth—it’s part of our DNA at AXA,” said Marine de Boucaud, Chief Human Resources Officer, AXA US. “It is an honor to join other accomplished organizations in being recognized by the HRC, and to stand with our LGBTQ employees, clients and families.”

AXA has offered health-care benefits to same-sex couples for more than a decade, and the company covers same-sex couples in its parental leave policy. AXA Pride, an employee resource group founded in 2009, creates and sustains an AXA presence in the LGBTQ community to drive business results and promote equality for all employees. Through partnership with AXA Pride, AXA has been a gold sponsor of NYC Pride since 2014, with a large employee contingent participating each year in the NYC Pride Parade.

The company’s retail field force, AXA Advisors, LLC, hosts an annual summit that provides an educational forum for financial professionals to discuss how to best serve the financial and retirement needs of the LGBTQ community. Many of the company’s professionals specialize in retirement planning for same-sex couples and their families.

“After nearly 30 years in the industry, I know firsthand how critical it is for financial professionals to find an inclusive company that understands the unique planning needs of the LGBTQ community,” said Ellen Desarno, a financial professional with AXA Advisors. “I’m proud to work for an organization that supports an open and collaborative culture which in turn helps us to better serve our clients.”

The HRC survey and report evaluate LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Employers who receive a score of 100 satisfy all of the CEI’s criteria and receive the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality. AXA is also included in HRC’s Buying for Workplace Equality Guide.
