The Board of Directors of LMI, a consulting firm providing professional, administrative and managerial support services to the Federal government, announced today that the Honorable Nelson M. Ford notified the Board of his intention to relinquish his responsibilities as President and Chief Executive Officer of LMI. Ford expects to retire in the spring of 2017. He will continue his current responsibilities until a new CEO is selected. Michael A. Daniels, chairman of the board, is leading the board’s search committee. LMI retained Heidrick & Struggles to help identify the successor. The board expects to consider both internal and external candidates for the position.

Mr. Ford, formerly the Under Secretary of the Army, has been the president and CEO of LMI since 2009, simultaneously joining the Board when he became the company’s eleventh president. Under his leadership, LMI has grown significantly, expanding its regional presence and broadening its capabilities in the Federal market. Known for its independence, LMI has also received multiple “small business partner” and “best place to work” awards during his tenure.

"As I reflect on more than eight years with LMI, I'm immensely proud of what we have accomplished. Our revenues have grown as the market has contracted," said Ford. “We’ve modernized the business, moved our headquarters and enhanced our reputation. But I’m most proud of our people, more than 1200 professionals who get up every morning committed to making government work better. It is this commitment to our mission – improving the management of government – that separates LMI from our competitors. LMI’s future is bright and it rests on this foundation. I’ve been privileged to be a part of this extraordinary organization."

"The Board is grateful to Nelson for his exceptional service to LMI. LMI has helped our government clients design and implement new ways to address their most perplexing challenges for over 55 years,” Daniels said. “Under Nelson's leadership, we have refined our strategy, enabling LMI's growth and enhancing our reputation in the market. As a Board, we've enjoyed a terrific working relationship with Nelson. His commitment to improving the management of government and to our people is unequaled. We wish Nelson the very best in whatever challenges he decides to tackle next.”

“The Board is committed to conducting a thorough search to identify the right candidate to serve as LMI's next CEO and will complete the search as expeditiously as possible."
