LONDON, March 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Figures released by the Bank of England indicate that the average debt per household in the United Kingdom stands to £8,000 approximately, excluding mortgages.

This sort of debt can consist of multiple types of credit being accessed at once, such as credit card balances and charges as well as repayments due on personal loans, student loans and utility bills.

In a bid to educate as much of the UK consumer market as possible on how it could practice effective credit management, MyCreditMonitor, a credit score and credit report provider, has launched a new information centre on its website.

Customers and new visitors alike will be able to access all the content in this centre that covers a range of credit-related topics, including: credit, credit scores, credit reports, loans and mortgages.

According to a research survey conducted by Affinion International, of which MyCreditMonitor is a brand, in conjunction with retail analyst firm Conlumino [September 2014], from the 2,002 consumers surveyed:

  • 49.5% said it would be helpful to know more about the steps they could take to manage their credit profiles
  • 67.6% said that they did not take any steps to manage their credit profiles
  • 72.5% said that they did not know what their credit score was.

Jenny Walker, Product Marketing Manager at MyCreditMonitor, says: "A lot of our customer feedback and reviews suggest to us that there is a clear need for the markets concerned to provide guidance to consumers on credit-based issues. Our team has been working hard to set up a new information centre on our website, for both our customers and new visitors alike, to be able to access the guidance that they are looking for, but may be afraid to ask, or simply do not know who to ask about.

In the coming months, our aim is to publish more resources that inform and guide our audience base and thereby help increase their credit awareness levels."

You can access the information centre by clicking on the 'Resources' tab on the MyCreditMonitor website, in which you will also find links to its blog, news releases, infographics, animated videos and FAQ videos too.
