The Company has today been informed that Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited
purchased 500,000 income 1p shares (representing 6.25% of issued class of
capital) on 9 April 1998 on behalf of Aberdeen New Preferred Income Investment
Trust plc.

Aberdeen New Preferred Income Investment Trust plc now holds 500,000 income 1p
shares of the Company, representing 6.25% of issued class of capital.

Also on 9 April 1998, Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited sold 500,000 income 1p
shares (representing 6.25% of issued class of capital) on behalf of Aberdeen
Preferred Income Investment Trust plc.

Aberdeen Preferred Income Investment Trust plc no longer has an interest in
the Company's income 1p shares.

The total number of shares managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited and its
associated companies remains 500,000 income 1p shares, representing 6.25% of
issued class of capital.
