                 EXETER SELECTIVE ASSETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

The Company was informed today that on 11 October 2001 Aberdeen Investment
Managers Limited purchased 1,000,000 Dividend Growth 1p shares on behalf of
St David's Investment Trust PLC. Aberdeen Investment Managers Limited now has
an aggregate holding of 12,260,000 voting shares, representing 11.94% of the
total issued voting shares. The breakdown of this holding is now as follows:

Progressive Growth 1p shares:

Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc:                  1,000,000 (representing 3.62%
of the issued capital of that class)
Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC:        2,000,000 (representing 7.24% of
the issued capital of that class)
Total:                                      3,000,000 (representing 10.85% of 
the issued capital of that class)



Dividend Growth 1p shares:

Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc:                  1,000,000 (representing 2.31%
of the issued capital of that class)
Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC:           7,260,000 (representing 16.79% of
the issued capital of that class)
St David's Investment trust PLC:               1,000,000 (representing 2.31% of 
the issued capital of that class)
Total:                                         9,260,000 (representing 21.42% of
the issued capital of that class)
