The Board of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC has today (18 July 2001)
declared a fourth interim dividend in respect of the year ending 28 February
2002 of 1.6p (net) per Ordinary share.

The fourth monthly dividend will have a record date of 27 July and will be
paid on 23 August 2001 to Ordinary shareholders on the register at the record
date (with a provisional ex-dividend date of 25 July 2001).
