                 EXETER SELECTIVE ASSETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC


The Company was informed yesterday that Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited holds
on behalf of its clients 3,000,000 Progressive Growth 1p Shares (10.85% of the
issued capital of this class) and holds 4,000,000 Dividend Growth 1p Shares
(14.47% of the issued capital of this class.    In aggregate this holding of
7,000,000 shares represents 6.82% of the issued share capital.  The total
holding is analysed as follows;


-         Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc now holds 2,000,000 Progressive
Growth 1p Shares representing 7.24% of the issued capital of this class and
3,000,000 Dividend Growth 1p Shares representing 10.85% of the issued capital
of this class.    The combined holding of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc
represents 4.87% of the total voting rights;

-         Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc now holds 1,000,000 Progressive
Growth 1p Shares representing 3.62% of the issued capital of this class and
1,000,000 Dividend Growth 1p Shares representing 3.62% of the issued capital
of this class.   The combined holding of Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc
represents 1.95% of the total voting rights;
