ORDINARY 25P SHARES

The Company has today been informed that (following the recent placing by the
Company):

Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust plc now holds 2,900,000 shares representing
4.94% of the issued share capital of that class. 

Second St.Davids Investment Trust plc now holds 2,250,000 shares representing
3.83% of the issued share capital of that class.

Aberdeen Asset Managers have acquired 1,250,000 shares of this class of
capital,as a consequence of the recent placing, on behalf of discretionary
funds under management. 

As a result of the above transactions, Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited now
have an interest in 15,867,500 ordinary 25p shares (representing 27.01% of the
issued class of capital and 13.51% of the voting rights).


INCOME 25P SHARES

The Company has been informed that:

Aberdeen Preffered Income Trust plc now holds 2,200,000 shares representing
3.75% of the issued share capital of that class.

Aberdeen Asset Managers have acquired 2,000,000 shares of this class of
capital, as a consequence of the recent placing, on behalf of discretionary
funds under management.

As a result of the above transactions, Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited now
have an interest in 11,197,799 Income 25p shares (representing 19.06% of the
issued class of capital and 9.53% of the voting rights).
