Norwegian oil producer Det Norske Oljeselskap ASA (DETNOR.OS) said Friday that drilling of exploration well 25/6-5 S on the Skirne East prospect in the North Sea is about to be completed and the well encountered a 10-metre gross gas column with good reservoir qualities.

Preliminary volume estimates for the discovery are in the range of 3 million-10 million barrels of oil equivalent. The licensees will evaluate the discovery with regards to a potential development.

Det norske holds a 20% working interest in the licence. Total E&P Norge is the operator with 40% working interest. Faroe Petroleum Norge AS and Centrica Resources (Norge) each hold 20% as partner.
